Danielle Cisney
Counselor & Owner
Picking out a counselor to work with is tough. It's totally normal to want to know more about me before you decide to work together. Just remember that first consultation call is free. The call is a way to get to know more about me without having to commit to anything beyond fifteen minutes of your time. I offer my time like this because I know choosing and meeting a new counselor can be uncomfortable, but is a really important step to getting where you want to go.
My Vibe
I see sessions as a series of conversations where we're working together to make your life better. You tell me what your interested in improving and I'll share tips and tools that I think will help you get there. We're a team working toward meeting the same goal.
When it makes sense, I like to use humor and playfulness in sessions. Therapy can't always be light and fluffy, but it also doesn't have to be heavy and spikey.

A Bit About Me
While you don't have to share my values or interests, knowing a bit about me may make it easier to figure out if I'm a good fit for you as a counselor. I value being Genuine, Creative, and Curious. My desire to be genuine means I don't mind calling you out with a compassionate challenge if I think it's helpful to you. I use creative problem solving to find ways to transfer academic knowledge into actionable steps that will help you live your life the way you want to do it. I love sharing my wonder and curiosity at how our minds work. Knowing that your mind is trying to help you in its own, unhelpful way can often give you the perspective you need to make better decisions.

My Background
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina. I graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory with a Master’s degree in Counseling with a Concentration in Mental Health.
I've worked in community mental health, with a college campus's career center, a group practice, and now I own my own private practice. I've had the chance to work with many different kinds of people with a wide range of ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, and cultures.
